Oh, boy, "Single Ladies II" was quite the rollercoaster! Going in, I was excited to see what Blake Karrington had cooked up for the finale of this series. I’ve enjoyed the ride with Tammy, Falisha, Kim, and Lisa from the beginning, and I was ready for one last dose of their drama-filled lives. The core of the book – the strong friendships between the women, the messy realities of love and relationships – definitely delivered on the promise of the series. Seeing them support each other through thick and thin, even amidst the intense personal challenges they faced, was truly heartwarming. Lamar's journey, and his place within that circle of friends, was also a satisfying thread throughout the story.
However, several readers mentioned significant editing issues, and sadly, I found myself agreeing with those criticisms. The structural problems were jarring – I encountered repeated chapters, events that felt out of chronological order, and confusing leaps in the narrative. It felt like I was reading multiple versions of the story stitched together haphazardly. In places, the story felt rushed, leading to conclusions that felt unearned or even contradictory to what had come before. There were moments where I had to reread entire sections to try and make sense of the flow, and that definitely took away from the enjoyment.
